Diary
of a Mad Black Woman
Thursday, February 24th at 7:00pm
Continental Theater (I-25 & Hampden)
Diary of a Mad
Black Woman is a comedy-drama based on the play of the same name
written by Tyler Perry. The story is about Helen, a woman with the perfect life
- the latest fashions, the nicest
cars, all the possessions she needs, an
expansive estate, swimming
pool, and tennis court. However, on the eve of her wedding anniversary, paradise crumbles
apart when her husband says he wants a divorce and she is tossed out of the mansion to make room for the other woman.
With all she has left packed in a moving van, she starts
to put her life together with the assistance of her friends, family, faith, and a twist of fate,
She not only finds the strength to control her circumstances, but also finds that the tragic events of her life
soon become comic, especially with the guidance and help - mostly
unsolicited, by the way - of her pot-smoking, gun-toting, and much
beloved, grandmother figure Madea.
This movie is rated PG-13.

Dean
Haglund Added To Starfest 2005
AKA "Langly" from The Lone Gunmen
and The X-Files
For nine
seasons, he played the most recognizable of the of the computer
geeks known as "The Lone Gunmen" on the hit FOX series The
X-Files. The popularity of the trio led to his starring role in
the spin-off series The Lone Gunmen.
Dean has
been successful with his amazing career in film and television. His
television credits include roles in the series VIP Pamela
Anderson, Home Improvement, The Commish, Sliders, Honey, I
Shrunk the Kids, the animated series Robocop and The
Big Guy. His feature film credits include The X-Files: Fight
the Future, Radio Free Steve, Design of Darkness, Rice Girl and
the animated feature film Tom Sawyer.
But wait, this guy doesn't just do acting! He is also an inventor.
One day, while working on his notebook computer, he discovered that
a cold gel pack he was using to ice his knee speeded up his
computer. After a bit of diligent research into cutting edge
materials that could prevent condensation, he formed his company
Geek Chic to market his new invention - The Chill Pak.
A
long-time comedy improviser, Dean got his start with the likes of
Ryan Stiles and Colin Mockery (Whose Line is it Anyway?) in
the internationally award winning Vancouver TheatreSports League.
He now regularly performs in Los Angeles with The Groundlings
and Second City. He has performed in and hosted at Montreal's
world famous Just for Laughs festival and has hosted the
Entertainment Media Awards, California Independent Film Festival,
and Armenian Independent Film Festival. He writes and
performs his own material for corporate gigs and his home comedy
club is the world famous The Improv in Los Angeles.
I've
mentioned all this because Dean is bringing his World-Class act to
Starfest for a very special Friday night event: Dean Haglund Live.
You are encouraged to get your
tickets early for this one-performance-only show that will have
you laughing like a Klingon at an all-you-can-eat Gagh feast. After
his performance on Friday night - you'll be able to catch him
throughout the convention during his Q&A onstage and during his
scheduled
autograph and
photo
sessions. |

John Constantine has been to hell and back.

he found himself cast back into the land of the living. Now, marked
as an attempted suicide with a temporary lease on life, he patrols
the earthly border between heaven and hell, hoping in vain to earn
his way to salvation by sending the devil's foot soldiers back to
the depths.
But Constantine is no saint. disillusioned by the world around him
and at odds with the one beyond, he's a hard-drinking, hard-living
bitter hero who scorns the very idea of heroism. Constantine will

Save
Enterprise Campaign
The day the cancellation of Enterprise was announced the "Save
Campaign" was launched. If you want to have your voice heard, I
would suggest you visit
http://www.saveenterprise.com/. They seem to have the most
complete list of information I've found regarding who to contact and
where to make a fuss.
Now here's where I'm going to get myself in a
little trouble... I don't think it's going to do much good. The people
who put on the show are already accepting offers and moving on. We been
in contact with Scott Bakula's people over the past couple of months in
our attempts to book him for Starfest
in April. The answer we got back (just 1 day after the announcement)
was that Mr. Bakula would not be available. That could only mean two
things - 1. He's not ready to explain the whole thing to fans, or 2.
He's already working on another job. I'm betting on #2 (with maybe a
little #1).
For an example, look to what happened when
Andromeda was recently cancelled. While the producers of the show were
still trying to put together a deal to bring it back for another season,
unbeknownst to them, Kevin Sorbo was busy lining up a development deal
with one of the TV networks for a new comedy show. Something tells me
that Bakula Productions Inc is already in talks all over town hoping to
land a similar deal ASAP.
It's really too bad. I thought that this season was
really the best, so far, for Enterprise. Perhaps because of the well
publicized budget cuts, the show delved deeper into the show's
characters instead of special effects and brought us some really good
aliens. Take Jeffrey Combs (who we're currently hoping to bring to
Starfest) for example: This season
he has been featured so prominently they probably should have assigned
him his own personal cabin on the ship.
So where does Star Trek go from here? Well, now
that's a reason to raise a ruckus! I'm guessing Paramount will give it a
rest for 2-3 years. Then someone will pitch a new series idea telling
the whole Starfleet thing from a Klingon's perspective. It could be be
fresh, dark and different. But because it's not a reality show or a
Beverly/Melrose/Dawson clone, don't get your hopes up too quick - UPN
isn't buying fresh ideas right now.
