Katee
Sackhoff Probable

Starbuck), the cocky, undisciplined fighter pilot, who also happens to be
the best and most skilled pilot in the fleet. She says that her father
raised her on Star Trek and fancies herself a bit of a science fiction fan,
but fears she wouldn't do too well if pitted against the Sci-Fi Jeopardy
experts at Starfest.
Katee is currently booked for a convention in the UK the same weekend of our
show, but subject to a probable scheduling conflict, will be able to come to Starfest on Saturday, April 30th.

Tony
Amendola
Master Bra'tac
Gates into Denver for Starfest
Over seven years ago Tony
Amendola had just completed working with Antonio Banderas and Catherine
Zeta-Jones on The Mask of Zorro and got a call from his agent
about a part on a TV show where he could play a 130 year-old guy.
Figuring it would be a good variation from the period work he just
completed, Tony decided to go-ahead and sign-on for a guest appearance
on the new series. That series was Stargate SG1. Now, over 30 episodes
later, Master Bra'tac has become one of the most endearing and popular
characters on the show. For a man in his triple digits, Bra'tac is in
excellent physical shape: A gruff warrior, spiritual teacher and
all-around father figure to Teal'c, his young protégé (age 103), played
by Christopher Judge on the series.
Additional Tony Amendola and
Starfest 2005 information is available here.

Animation Reviews, News and Interviews
No comic escapes the discerning gaze of Michael Vance and Mark Allen
Men of
Mystery
- "For those who embrace post-modernism (the belief that right and
wrong are just subjective opinions) Men of Mystery will seem quaint and
trivial. Why should anyone fight for anything? ...this review is for
those who laugh at such foolishness."
Blood Orange #2 - "Surreal
observations about life drawn in the doodles that characterize avante
garde."
Jon Sable: Freelance - "A
thoroughly realistic style, in the tradition of the likes of Neal Adams
and Dick Giordano, coupled with a fine sense of detail and depth make
this book nigh irresistible." |

William
Shatner at Starfest 2005
As an actor, director, producer, screenwriter, author and recording
artist, William Shatner is an American Icon - one who was raised in
Canada. Already established as a professional actor in his home
country - Shatner arrived in the U.S. and made a big impact playing
on Broadway and in such early TV shows as Playhouse 90 and
Studio One. His film debut came in the 1957 film, The
Brothers Karamazov.
Before his Iconic role as Captain James T. Kirk, he appeared in TV
shows and genre hits like The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock
Presents and Mission: Impossible. Then came Star Trek,
...actually, then came reruns. Once Trek was aired in syndication

America, Captain Kirk became the role model for millions and
sparked a vision of the future that captivated countless young minds.
Post Star Trek, Shatner never stopped working. television
series, movies, commercials, animated productions, writing, and

his poetry & song album in current release titled Has Been (in

notice.
It is with great humility and thanks we welcome "The Shat Man,"
William Shatner to Starfest 2005. Mr. Shatner will be attending Starfest

Voltaire
To Perform At Starfest
Singer, Songwriter, Animator,
Director, and Teacher Extraordinaire
Voltaire was born in Havana, Cuba in 1967. He emigrated with
his family to the U.S. as a child and settled in New Jersey (a fact
he never stops complaining about!)
"Voltaire is a singer/songwriter whose music has its roots deeply
imbedded in European folk music. His songs speak of love and, most
often, the loss thereof with the added twist of how best to seek revenge
on the ones who have hurt you. Lyrically, he explores and reveals those
moments of vulnerability most would rather not discuss and exploits with
childish abandon those fleeting streaks of cruelty we all feel but
choose not to act upon or even mention.
Voltaire's live shows, whether solo or with his skeletal orchestra,
are highly theatrical -full of props and stories. The visual quality of
his performances is not surprising; Voltaire has been directing
commercials and animating short films for the last ten years. He's best
known for his Hieronymous Bosch inspired station ID's for MTV.
Inspired by the films of Ray Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts,
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad), Voltaire began animating at the age of ten on
a super8 camera. At that time, he says, "no three dimensional object was
safe. My brother's action figures, my sister's dolls, silverware, etc .
. . If it was missing, chances were that it was in the basement in front
of my camera."
Eventually, piecing together snippets of information from fanzines,
he was able to teach himself how to make foam rubber animation models
and animate them with fluidity and realism. The films of his childhood
landed him his first directing job in 1988. That project was the classic
MTV ID called "MTV-Bosch." The stop-motion tour of the hellish "Garden
of Earthly Delights" went on to win several awards including a Broadcast
Design Award and helped to establish Voltaire's style of animation.
His strange stew of gothic darkness, baroque lushness and whimsical
surrealism has been seen in a score of television commercials for
clients such as Cartoon Network, USA and The Sci-Fi Channel. His short
films which he describes as being "an opportunity for me to be as
strange and demented as I care to be," have been seen at animation
festivals around the world, including the sinister "Rakthavira" which
toured as part of Expanded Entertainment's Too Outrageous Animation."
- Courtesy of
Projekt.com
These days, Voltaire continues writing, recording and performing
music, directing and animating commercials and projects for television
and working on the occasional comic book. Somewhere in there, he also
teaches stop-motion animation at the School of Visual Arts in New York
City. He's currently working on a project for the new Fangoria channel.
Voltaire spends a lot of time at SCI-FI conventions. Usually he is
promoting his comic books and Chi-Chian animated series but we all know
he really just goes to them in the hopes of picking up a new Starfleet
uniform or that hard to get, limited edition Tribble! Voltaire, you see,
is an avid Star Trek fan (even stating in an interview on the Sci Fi
Channel show "Exposure" that his dream in life is to play a Vulcan!).
You can check out his Star Trek related recordings at his
website.
