Evening is a deeply emotional film that illuminates the timeless love which binds mother and daughter - seen through the prism of one mother’s life as it crests with optimism, navigates a turning point, and ebbs to its close. Two pairs of real-life mothers and daughters - Vanessa Redgrave and Natasha Richardson, and Meryl Streep and Mamie Gummer - portray, respectively, a mother and her daughter and the mother’s best friend at different stages in life.

This movie is based on a short story by Stephen King and stars John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson.

Renowned horror novelist Mike Enslin only believes what he can see with his own two eyes.  After a string of bestsellers discrediting paranormal events in the most infamous haunted houses and graveyards around the world, he scoffs at the concept of an afterlife.  Enslin’s phantom-free run of long and lonely nights is about to change forever when he checks into suite 1408 of the notorious Dolphin Hotel for his latest project, “Ten Nights in Haunted Hotel Rooms.” Defying the warnings of the hotel manager, the author is the first person in years to stay in the reputedly haunted room.  Another bestseller may be imminent, but like all Stephen King heroes, Enslin must go from skeptic to true believer – and ultimately survive the night.

Sequential Animation Reviews, News and Interviews
No comic escapes the discerning gaze of Michael Vance and Mark Allen

Part of our catch-up series, this edition combines a whole bunch of great reviews into one great font of comic book knowledge.

Michael Vance spins out with a review on Essential Spider-Man #7 which he says is well crafted, melodramatic, and formulaic. Mark Allen shoots back with his thoughts on Spider-Man: Reign which he describes as a satisfying resolution that speaks of mankind’s need for freedom. Michael then fills us in on The Toy and Action Figure Museum in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma and its Oklahoma Cartoonists collection. Michael continues with a review of Cyber Force/X-Men #1 that he says lacks an absence of plot analysis, but is redeamed by its art. Mike continues with an analysis of Canon. A quarterly short story anthology featuring the work of students and faculty - all featuring a nautical theme. Then Mike returns for his look at David: The Shepherd's Song - which he describes as a Biblically-based comic that is fun to read and a blast to look at. Michael's back with his take on Decoy: Menagerie which he slams for inconsistancies. Mark hits back with his take on Batman: Dark Knight Dynasty. He asks the question - What more could a reader want? Michael then gets in the last work on his review of He Done Her Wrong perhaps the first graphic novel and a rare peek into vaudvillian comedy from the era of the Marx Brothers and the Keystone Cops.

La Vie en RoseLa Vie en Rose Screening Quiz
Wednesday, June 13 @ 7:30pm
The Chez Artiste Theater, 2800 S Colo. Blvd.

A swirling, impressionistic portrait of an artist who regretted nothing, writer-director Olivier Dahan’s La Vie En Rose tells the story of legendary French icon Edith Piaf. Perhaps finding her nearest American analogues in figures such as Judy Garland and Billie Holiday, the tragic story of the world-famous chanteuse is worthy of a 19th Century novel by Zola or Balzac.

This film has been rated PG-13. Click here to play for tickets.
