These are some of the hundreds of Special Events planned for Starcon. We'll keep updating and adding more activities here as the convention approaches...
Bat'leth 101
Learn the basics of Klingon Bat'leth combat as taught by the
Galactic Warrior's Academy. The GWA will be featuring various
exhibitions of combat at their table in the Activities Room
during the weekend.
The Black Hole
Imagine you are spinning
uncontrollably in the darkness of space. Stars and galaxies
whirl madly around you. This is the double spin of THE BLACK
HOLE. Try it if you dare! There is a $2 fee for the experience.
The Brig
Presented by Psi Corps.
Located in the Activities Room; $3 per arrest. Here you can lock
up your friends, enemies, and anyone else who annoys you. For a
dollar more you can pick out a torture. All proceeds benefit
Children's Hospital.
Buckaroo Banzai in the 21st
Century!
With Director Rick
Richter’s blessing, Terry Erdmann reveals Dr. Banzai’s
latest project -- including newly-produced footage never before
seen outside of the Banzai Institute.
Eutopis Planit - Junior Shipyards
-- Build Your Own Spaceship
Come build your very own
spaceship (not to scale, of course) out of ordinary household
items with the crew of the USS Pioneer. Children of all ages
will have a blast, but those under 10 should have a responsible
companion with them. Prizes will be awarded to the most creative
efforts. The USS Pioneer will be in the Activities Room all
weekend, so stop by and say, "Hi." Visit their website

Federation Ball
Every member of the
Federation (even the Klingons) needs to have a place to party!!
Come join Feddies, Klingons, Vulcans and more at the Federation
Ball on Saturday night. The Ball begins at 9:00 pm and ends at
Midnight, and it includes a dance contest with tickets to the
next con as the big prize. Usually, there's a celebrity or two
on hand to do the judging, a Klingon Honor Guard and great music
is provided by professional DJ company A.C.E.S. Cost is only
$3.00 each or 2 for $5.00, and costumes are encouraged, but not
required. Sponsored by USS Pioneer, House Valtev and USS Omega
Glory.
Friendliest Staff Person Contest
Throughout the weekend,
keep an eye out for the friendliest StarCon staff person. They
may be watching a door, showing a movie, or helping you to your
seat in the Main Events Room. Stop by the Information Desk in
the Activities Room to place your vote. We want to hear from
you!!
Getting in Touch With Your Inner
Klingon
Hosted by Captain April
of the USS Enterprise, in association with House K'ralvaj. A
moderately offbeat view of Klingon culture, from a Federation
perspective -- no doubt with generous input from the Klingon
representatives in attendance!! House K'ralvaj is an independent
Klingon House that accepts personas of any race or SF genre, and
endeavors to have fun in everything they do. Ask Admiral K'var
or stop by their table in the Activities Room for details.
Great Model Make-N-Take:
Build a FREE plastic model with our experienced staff. Open
to all interested con members at NO EXTRA CHARGE. There will be
5 stations open. Seating is first come first served. Junior
members will be given priority. 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday in the
Demo Room.
Honor Among the Races
A discussion of what
Honor means to different races, including Vulcan, Klingon,
Starfleet Marines, Minbari, and others. A brief question and
answer session from the audience to the panel presenters will
follow. Presented by the Intergalactic Fleet of Honor.
How Do I Make ???
Have you ever had an idea
for a costume but just didn't know where to start? Ever get
stuck in the middle of a costume and can't decide how to finish
it? Did you see something in the Costume Contest last night and
really want to know how it was done? Well, our panel of
experienced, award-winning costumers is here to answer all your
questions. Presented by The Millennium Costumers Guild. Visit
with us in the Activities Room.
How to Support Your Chosen
Charity
Your fan club has chosen
a charity to sponsor, but now what do you do? Come meet with the
USS Avitar and find out what they do to support one of their
charities, "Birds of Prey." Also find out what
"Birds of Prey" does and how you can help them, too.
Visit with the USS Avitar in the Activities Room throughout the
weekend.
How to Write and Publish Your
First Science-Fiction or Fantasy Novel in 90 Days
For the first time
author, or any author frustrated with the traditional publishing
system or his/her lack of success. This program offers tips,
ideas and techniques which will help the author to write more,
write better, and get that book in print. The program also
offers new ideas and techniques for marketing your book.
Attendees get a valuable reference booklet, too! Brought to you
by The Science Fiction and Fantasy Authors Marketing
Cooperative(SF/F-AMC).
IWATA Airbrush Testdrive
Use an Iwata Eclipse Airbrush to paint an original bust by
Mark Krabbenhoft of Soaring Eagle Artist Group. There will be 6
sessions with 5 airbrushes. Each session is 40 minutes long.
Seating is first come first served. 2 to 6 PM on Saturday in the
Demo Room.
Jeopardy
So you think you know
more about Star Trek than any of your friends do? Come find out
in this Star Trek version of Jeopardy. You must qualify during
the Saturday qualifying test in order to be a contestant in this
fun and challenging game.
Juggling with Dwight
Is your life complicated? Do you need to do three or more things
at once? Well, juggling the problems of your life we can't help
you with, but we can help you learn to juggle! We can teach you
to juggle in five minutes or your money back (it's free anyway).
Learn the classic three ball juggle to begin with or the more
advanced four or even five ball juggle, or even clubs if you
dare. For those who like the harder stuff learn a few tricks
that will make you think you never knew how to juggle in the
first place.
Junior Model Expo
This is a model contest
for con members up to 17 years old. Each finished model will be
judged on its own merits with the MiA Open Judging System. You
get the score cards back so you can see how you did. Gold,
Silver or Bronze certificates will be given to all who score
high enough. Lots of other prizes too!! NO ENTREE FEE.
Registration from 10-1 on Saturday. Awards at 4:30 Pick up all
entrees by 6 PM. Saturday in the Demo Room.
Kandid Klingon Video
House Valtev members
captured live on TV and amateur video performing wild and wacky
stunts (and having a great time) and performing at charity
events, as we know all honorable Klingons do. Catch us at

Klingon 101 and Klingon
Kulture
Admiral K'var's
Klingon 101 will help you aliens learn the Klingon tongue. For
your better understanding of the Klingon citizens, Klingon
Kulture will give all a clue about the Klingon way of life.
Klingon Right of Assention Ritual
The Klingon Right of
Assention Ritual, or nentay, celebrates (or commemorates) the
time when a young Klingon becomes a warrior. As one travels the
"river of blood" their physical strength and endurance
is tested as they are prodded with "pain sticks." The
event is open to the public and anyone may accept the challenge
if they are honorable and worthy. This event is brought to you
by House Veska/KAG/501st. Visit them at their table in the

Klingon Warrior Skills
Competition
Join the Galactic
Warriors Academy as brave warriors from across the Galaxy
compete for honor and victory. Meet with the GWA in the
Activities Room throughout the weekend.
Mage Knight Rebellion
Mage Knight is a collectable, expandable miniatures game in
which every plastic figure comes fully assembled and painted for
you. Each figure's base contains a unique combat dial with all
the information you need to put your character into action! Mage
Knight has no huge, expensive rulebooks; no endless tables; no
paper work cluttering up your game table; just action - packed
play! Come and check it out in the Activities Room and take home

Model Show
Have you created a SF
masterpiece in plastic? Covered yourself in resin dust from an
undead fiend? Glued your fingers together while finishing a
fantastic dwarven fighter? If so, show off your handiwork at the
Model Show! Once again, we will be giving away plaques, ribbons,
convention memberships, and model kits in recognition of
accomplishment in model building. Convention members 17 and
older are asked to pay a $5 registration fee for the first five
entries and $1 an entry after that. All other convention members
are FREE! Prizes include a FineScale Modeler
subscription, two memberships to Nan Desu Kan, memberships to

presents LAN Gaming
Have you ever wanted to shoot your buddy? Blow up your boss?
Here's your chance! We will be setting up a Local-Area Network
(LAN) in the Activities Room and and playing a choice selection
of the top-ten multiplayer computer games. This event will also
feature Windows Millenium Operating System and drawings for
prizes. We are asking for a small donation to cover our

Getting Signatures Outside of the Convention Scene

your autograph pursuits once StarCon is over.
