Crash Course will once again be offered at Starfest with four all new
classes. For more information, click here.
The course offerings for this year are:
Starfleet 102: Doing Your Duty -- It's Harder Than
You Think
Instructor: Deputy Commandant Stevl. The introductory class will include an entrance exam,
as well as instruction and practice in the fine (and sometimes lost) art of following
orders.
Diplomacy 101: How to Prevent a Banquet from
Becoming a Battlefield
Instructor: TBA. This class will examine appropriate and
inappropriate behavior at Starfleet functions. Students will also have the opportunity to
determine proper seating arrangements for a Starfleet banquet.
Interspecies Relationships 235: Love and
Friendship Under the Stars - Literally
Instructor: TBA. This course will introduce the student to the
wide variety of relationships available in the quadrant, focusing on the potentials and
pitfalls. The relative merits of different species will be considered and students will be
able to determine which species would be best for them.
Engineering 422: Starfleet Construction
Techniques
Instructor: Dr. T'Nea Kelly. Students will learn about advanced
Starfleet Engineering methods as they complete a construction project of their own. This
class will conclude with graduation ceremonies for those students who have completed all
four courses.
Studio Giveaways
Don't miss Friday night for the best in Movie Studio Hats, Caps and Buttons. Some people
use the convention giveaways for half their wardrobe!
Trek-tiques Road Show
You might have seen the antique appraisers on TV's Antiques Road
Show and started wondering just what that dust-covered Star Trek treasure in your own
closet is really worth. This is your chance to find out! Is it a gem, or not worth the
space it's taking up? Bring your old, new or anything in between to the Information Booth
near the Atrium and let Appraiser Phil give you his opinion. He's the man when it
comes to Star Trekibles! Do you hold a priceless treasure, or just another bit of Trek
Trash? Maybe Sotheby's will be waiting for you when you get home!
Disclaimer: all appraisals are subject to personal opinion based on Phil's considerable experience and knowledge. This may not reflect the true value of your item, since the bottom line is that everything is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it. Due to space consideration at Casa Watson, Phil's wife has absolutely forbidden him to purchase anything from anybody, no matter how badly he needs it for his own collection, so don't even try. She means it!
Utopia Planitia
- Build Your Own Spaceship
Come
build your very own spaceship (not to scale, of course) out of ordinary household items
with the crew of the USS Pioneer. Children of all ages will have a blast, but those under
10 should have a responsible companion with them. The USS Pioneer will be in the
Fan Club Room all weekend, so stop by and say, "Hi."
Videos and Movies
When the bustle of the convention becomes too much, come sit in the video room. We'll have
lots of great features for you to enjoy.
Whose Ship is it Anyway?
You Can Dough It Again!
The USS Omega Glory gives you a hands-on opportunity to make
your favorite science fiction characters--and creatures of your own imagination--with
modeling clay. For kids of all ages!
