Roland
EmmerichIn his film Independence Day, Mr. Emmerich brought to the screen the near destruction of earth by aliens. In his new film, The Day After Tomorrow, the enemy is an even more devastating force: nature itself. Tornadoes rip through Los Angeles; snow buries New Delhi; Grapefruit size hail pummels Tokyo; and in New York, sweltering heat changes to freezing in one day. The film stars Dennis Quaid and a cast of disasters never before seen on the big screen.
Roland loves disaster movies. He lists The Towering Inferno, Earthquake and The Posidon Adventure among his favorites. Intimate with all aspects of film making, he is credited as a writer, producer, director, editor, and actor. Emmerich has directed some of the biggest films in the science fiction and action adventure genre including: Independence Day, Godzilla, Stargate and Universal Soldier. He also served as producer on Eight Legged Freaks with frequent Starfest guest, Dean Devlin. Outside the genre, he directed Mel Gibson in the historical feature The Patriot. Next year he is slated to begin work on King Tut.
Mr. Emmerich will present exciting new footage from The Day After Tomorrow and take questions from the audience on Saturday, April 17th. |
