We
are high jacking this week's Suspended Animation column to let everyone know
about the opening of a great sequential animation exposition this week. It is
titled: No Joke: The
Spirit of American Comic Books and will run from January
15 though March 28, 2004 at the Singer Gallery in Denver.There is an opening
reception on Thursday, January 15, 2004 that is free and open to the public. At
7pm in the Shwayder Theatre at the Mizel Center Comics Legend Will Eisner will
be speaking ($7 admission).
The exhibition will feature works by Carl Barks, C. C. Beck, Al Capp,
Howard Chaykin, Howard Cruse, Mort Drucker, Will Eisner, Will
Elder, Al Feldstein, Frank Frazetta, Kelly Freas, Justin Green,
Bill Griffin, Jack Kirby, Harvey Kurtzman, Don Martin, Sheldon
Moldoff, Victor Moscoso, Prohias, Trina Robbins, Gilbert
Shelton, Joe Shuster, Art Spiegelman. A cartoon mural by Tom
Motley depicts the history of comic books. For additional
