The Ghastly Love of Johnny X
Screening @ HorrorFest
Film festival favorite flies into StarFest/HorrorFest

Truly a mad concoction, The Ghastly Love of Johnny X blends 1950s sci-fi melodrama, song-and-dance, and a touch of horror into a mesmerizing big screen spectacular! The fun begins as Johnny X and his misfit gang of juvenile delinquents from outer space are sentenced to Earth where “ghastly” is the word!

With highly stylized musical numbers, tons of genuinely humorous dialogue and wacky plot twists, The Ghastly Love of Johnny X is the only sci-fi dark comedy musical romance you need to see this year! Beautifully photographed on the last of Kodak’s 35mm black-and white Plus-X film stock, the cast includes sexy new stars Will Keenan and De Anna Joy Brooks, as well as seasoned professionals Creed Bratton (The Office), Reggie Bannister (Phantasm), Kate Maberly (The Secret Garden), Paul Williams (Phantom of the Paradise), HorrorFest’s own Jed Rowen (Dahmer vs. Gacy), and the late Kevin McCarthy (Invasion of the Body Snatchers) in his final role.

For more information about the film, watch the movie’s trailer or visit the Ghastly Love of Johnny X website. At StarFest, the first 100 people to the screening will receive a full-size 27×40 movie poster! Following the screening there will be a Q&A with the movie’s Director, Paul Bunnell and Jed Rowen, who plays Sluggo in the film.

Dark Shadows Balcony Contest

Batman: The Line

Warner Bros. presents
The Dark Shadows Balcony Contest

Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and Michelle Pfeiffer

In the year 1752, Joshua and Naomi Collins, with their young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family. Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet–or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive. Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

So there it is – the 1970′s of lava lamps, Disco and big hair, together with the wild and colorful imagination of Tim Burton and the funny whit of Johnny Depp. It’s time to cut a shag rug and build some scenes from your favorite Camp-Horror imaginations to delight and festoon the StarFest Atrium this year. As usual, prizes will be awarded for entries in both the Open and Dark Shadows categories for the contest – as voted by convention attendees.

Visit our contest page for complete rules and details for the competition.

Dee Wallace Added as HorrorFest Guest

Dee Wallace
Dee Wallace

Actor/Healer/Best Selling Author

Dee Wallace is an Actor, Healer, and Best Selling Author. Her Film, TV and Commercial credits number in the thousands. Although she has had much success, she is still reachable by her audience, doing two radio shows a week, monthly live webcasts on her own network, and annual weekend work shops at her home in Woodland Hills. When Dee is not in the studio or on the set, you will find her at a convention somewhere between the west coast and east coast. Dee Wallace is today’s new renaissance woman.

This attractive, happy go lucky blonde actress, educated at the University of Kansas and a former ballet soloist, first broke into both TV and cinema screens in the mid 1970s and through her appearances in several well remembered horror and sci-fi films, and Dee quickly gained a cult following amongst the fantasy film fans. Poor Dee always seemed to be on the wrong side of some malevolent person or evil creature….she was pursued by a clan of cannibal killers in The Hills Have Eyes (1977), terrorized by a pack of werewolves in the superb The Howling (1981), got a break from the horror, as a sympathetic mum in the mega sci-fi hit E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and nearly ends up lunch for a rabid St. Bernard in the heart stopping Cujo (1983).

In the early 1980s, Wallace-Stone actually shared the screen several times with her then husband Christopher Stone before his unfortunate, early demise from a heart attack in October, 1995.

However, typecasting Dee Wallace-Stone as a horror heroine does not do her justice, as unlike some other scream queens whose careers quickly faded, Dee has gone on to have a very busy and varied acting career, appearing in over 90 feature films to date! Her All-American looks and easy going demeanor has seen Dee often cast as a typical suburban mother, a sympathetic friend or a trusted ally. Fans warm to her endearing smile and natural warmth and Dee continues to find herself in constant demand in front of the camera, plus she has her own much visited website at iamdeewallace.com/.

–Bio from IMDB and iamdeewallace.com

Ms. Wallace will be at StarFest all three days of the convention. She’s officially appearing as a HorrorFest guest, but with her incredible list of credits, she really doesn’t fit into any one particular genre.
