Friday Night Highlights
Horrorfest kicks off Friday night with our annual charity event. This year’s charity is My Quiet Cave, a resource for people with bi-polar disorder. We will be featuring a DJ and a zombie dance contest with prizes in several different categories. Put on your zombie makeup and dust off your dancing shoes for fun and prizes! As always we will have our raffle with lots of unique and horrible items for you to win. Come by and help us celebrate 15 years of horror at Starfest!
Saturday Highlights
Saturday we have tons of new panels and some great repeat classes for you to attend. In the Horror Panels Room, come take some zombie defense classes or learn more about zombies on film. Check out panels by our authors and learn about writing and art on the dark side. Dee Wallace will also join us for a discussion of her upcoming projects and her latest book and radio show. Late night Saturday you can check out some awesome films screening in Panel room 1 including Attack of the Moon Zombies and The Ghastly Love of Johnny X. Directors will be on hand for both screenings. Also on Saturday we will be hosting a Zombie Face Off make-up challenge for make-up artists. Look for details on that coming soon!
In our new Horror Special Events Room we will be hosting some great make and take classes, film screenings, and other special events throughout the day.
Make-n-Take for PVC candles.
This is a hands-on class where each student will make a set of 3 artificial candles out of PVC pipe, LED tea lights and hot glue. PVC candles eliminate the dangers of open flame and are a great addition to your Halloween, Christmas, gaming, or anything decor! They are very realistic looking. Class should last about an hour. You will need to sign up for this class ahead of time as space is limited. You can pay when you get to class. Class cost $25.
Demonstration “class” for Realistic Foam Tombstones. This is a presentation on the complete process of making realistic tombstones out of foam insulation board. Examples of several different styles and sizes of tombstones will be presented, as well as obelisks, Celtic crosses, cemetery gate columns and other monuments – all made of foam. Each student will receive a tombstone blank to take home and work on, as well as synopsis of techniques presented in the class. This class will last about 1 1/2 hours. You will need to sign up for this class ahead of time as space is limited. You can pay when you get to class. Class cost $30.
You can sign up before the convention by sending an email to icewitchtoo@hotmail.com. Or at the convention you can sign up in the Horror Extras Room Friday night or Saturday morning.
